Welcome to Marticville!

Greetings Marticville Parents/Guardians,

I hope you and your family are doing well during these unprecedented times.  I am both excited and delighted to be serving as your child’s principal.  We are so excited about your child joining us this year at Marticville Middle School.  The first day of school for students in both groups “A” and “B” is August 31st.  Group A will be joining us face-to-face and Group B will be working from home.  Please have your children check their email for invitations to their teachers’ Google Classrooms.

While I am excited to begin the new school year, I also understand many, including myself, are concerned and anxious about what this year may bring with the many changes that are taking place due to COVID-19.  This year presents unique opportunities and challenges for all of us.  Our staff is committed to making the best of this situation and assuring that all students are provided with the best education possible.

We will be trying our best this year to limit the amount of “shared” items in the classroom. It is essential for students to have their supplies with them every day to help with this process.  I have included our supply list for your convenience.  If you are unable to provide these items for your child, please contact the school and we will be happy to assist you.

This year our students will not be changing for physical education class.  We would just ask that they bring or wear sneakers on days that they have PE.  We would also like all of our students to do four simple tasks on their computer to be sure they are prepared and ready for the first day of school.  Those tasks are:

  1. Log into their Sapphire account and view their schedule.  It is important that they know the name of their Period 1 teacher.  This will be important information to have when they enter the building on their first day of school.
  2. Log into their School Gmail account.  Students will be receiving email from their teachers and myself throughout the year so it is important that they know how to access this information.
  3. Complete their Laptop Check Up, Microphone and Camera Check.  Teachers will expect students to bring their charged laptop to class each day.  The school laptop is an essential tool for learning, just like a textbook.  We will not be handing out loaners this year.

To access a link to complete the tasks above, please go to our Student Technology Orientation and Tips site.  This site will be helpful for both you and your children this year.  The site can be accessed from the Parents tab on the Marticville Blog or any school blog that you visit.  Our blog can be found at: https://marticville.pennmanor.net/.

In conclusion, we would like to thank you for your willingness to follow the procedures and expectations set forth during these times.  As we continue to navigate through these unprecedented times, it is paramountWE work together.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the school.  TOGETHER WE CAN ACHIEVE MORE.

Best Regards,

Chris
